Discussion on the QA of Cycle 3 Programmes with the Armenian stakeholders under the E+ C3QA Project
On July 16, 2019 the Quality Assurance (QA) of Cycle 3 Programmes was addressed and discussed at the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the RA in the framework of the meeting that involved the Armenian stakeholders under the Erasmus+ C3QA project, NEO Armenia office team members, representatives from various Armenian HEIs in charge of the QA of Cycle 3 education in Armenia, Supreme Certifying Committee, as well as representatives from the other Erasmus+ CBHE projects involving Armenian partners and dealing with doctoral education.
The meeting was opened by the welcome speeches by Arevik Anapiosyan, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the RA, Lana Karlova – Programme Coordinator, NEO Armenia and Jean-Marc Lavest, Rector, French University in Armenia (UFAR).
Further, Arayik Navoyan, C3QA Project Coordinator, Vice-Rector for external relations and Quality assurance at UFAR outlined the project’s overall results and outcomes envisioned throughout the project lifetime.
The core discussion aspects addressed during the meeting were then addressed through three main discussion themes, namely, a) Issues and Propositions for the Improvement of the Cycle 3 programmes in Armenia, b) Guidelines and Standards for the QA of Cycle 3 programmes and individual experience of the participating higher education institutions in internal quality assurance of Cycle 3 programmes. Afterwards, the representative of the Supreme Certifying Committee presented the overall situation and outlined activities to be implemented for the improvement of Cycle 3 Programmes delivery in Armenia.
The addressed themes of the meeting highly resonated with the participants and sparked discussion and exchange of views on the possible suggestions and solutions for the improvement of the QA of Cycle 3 in Armenia.
As noted, the RA Government programme for 2019-23 envisages reforms and improvements in the area of Cycle 3 education in Armenia and in this regard once tested and approved the tools, standards and guidelines elaborated under the Erasmus+ C3QA project can be effectively applied in the concept paper for the development of the procedures and guidelines regulating Cycle 3 education in Armenia.
